Leigh Leverette likes to say “I took a backward path – I grew up in nursing homes.” Her mother and grandmother were Directors of Nursing in various nursing homes, and Leigh grew up assisting with activities and entertainment in those facilities. By doing so, she developed a love for older people. After graduation from Delta State University with a degree in psychology, she worked in trust administration at a Mississippi financial institution and as Trust Operations Manager for a large regional bank and trust company. After some years in trust management, Leigh sought and obtained a position as a Support Coordinator for the Mississippi Department of Mental Health, assisting mentally and developmentally disabled Medicaid recipients in 15 counties by finding and obtaining medical, dental, attendant care and other needed services. It was from this position that Leigh joined our Elder Law practice in 2005. Leigh provides care management to our older clients and administers trust funds for our Special Needs Trust clients. Leigh obtained care management certification through the National Association of Certified Care Managers (NACCM) in 2007 and became Mississippi’s first Certified Geriatric Care Manager by the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers (NAPGCM) in 2007. Leigh is an active member of the Mississippi Gerontological Society.
